The Swedish Prime Minister said a more intensive dialogue between the two countries would be beneficial.

On Wednesday Orban reaffirmed his support for admitting Sweden as a NATO member after a phone call with NATO Secretary General Jens Stoltenberg. He posted a message on social network X that he will urge lawmakers to approve its accession quickly.

Sweden and Finland applied to join NATO in 2022. Finland became the 31st member of the alliance in April 2023.

On Tuesday, the Turkish Parliament approved the admission of Sweden to NATO and President Tayyip Erdogan is expected to sign ratification in the coming days.
