(VOVworld) – The Department of Preventive Medicine has acknowledged the possibility that the Zika virus could spread to Vietnam. Until February 18, Zika infected people have been reported in 44 countries and territories, including China and Thailand.

Approximately 400,000 foreigners come to Vietnam every week. Vietnam has strengthened the quarantine of travelers from Zika affected countries and territories and publicized information on Zika prevention.
The health sector will continue to tighten monitoring at border gates and improve training, testing, and treatment activities.
