(VOVworld)- Governor of the State Bank of Vietnam Nguyen Van Binh has pledged that the banking sector will assist fishermen by facilitating their access to credit to build modern boats for offshore fishing, thus ensuring fishermen’s livelihood and contributing to the marine economy.

Speaking at a program on supporting fishermen in Quang Ngai province on Monday, Governor Nguyen Van Binh, who is also a Politburo member, stressed that the Party and State will try to create the best possible policies and mechanisms to support fishermen’s operation at sea. He urged related ministries and agencies to continue refining legal regulations on the management, investment in and exploitation of marine resources towards the goal of promoting socio-economic development with safeguarding national security and defence. To mark the occasion, the SBV Governor presented 735 sets of communication equipment to 28 coastal cities and provinces.
