(VOVWORLD) - A van parked near St. Anthony’s Shrine in Colombo, Sri Lanka, exploded on Monday, as bomb squad officials were trying to defuse 3 other bombs.

There is no information yet on injuries from the blast. Sri Lankan Health Minister Rajitha Senaratne blamed the attack on a local armed group called National Thowfeek Jamaath (NTJ).

Pope Francis has condemned the attacks on churches and hotels in Sri Lanka on Sunday that killed more than 300 people. He called for universal condemnation of what he said were terrorist acts and inhuman acts that could never be justified.
