Spring cultural program strengthens Vietnamese–Czech ties

(VOVWORLD) - The “Vietnamese Tet and Czech Masopust Festival” took place at the SaPa Trade Centre in Prague, the Czech Republic on Saturday. The event aimed to strengthen bonds within the Vietnamese community in the Czech Republic while promoting the traditional cultures of both countries.

Addressing the festival, Vietnamese Ambassador to the Czech Republic Duong Hoai Nam said the joint celebration of Vietnam’s Lunar New Year and the Czech traditional Masopust festival was a vivid symbol of cultural exchange and close ties between the two nations.

He expressed confidence that Vietnam–Czech relations would continue to grow in a more substantive and effective manner.

Czech Senator Jana Mrackova Vildumetzova said the festival would further motivate cultural and social exchanges between the peoples of the two countries.

The event featured Vietnamese lion dances, Czech masquerade parades, folk dances, and traditional foods.

Vietnamese Tet specialties such as banh chung (square sticky rice cakes), fried spring rolls and boiled pork paste were served alongside Masopust favourites including sausages, grilled meats and jam-filled doughnuts.
