The historic meeting began at 11am local time at the Presidential Palace in Seoul. The 22 people delegation, led by Kim Yong Nam, president of the Presidium of the Supreme People's Assembly of North Korea, arrived in South Korea on Friday. Other senior delegates are Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean top leader, Choe Hwi, chairman of the National Sports Guidance Committee, and Ri Son Gwon, chairman of the Committee for the Peaceful Reunification of the Fatherland.
Earlier, UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres had a brief exchange with Kim Yong Nam and reiterated his expectation for the denuclearization of the Korean Peninsula.
