President of the Vietnam Union of Friendship Organizations Vu Xuan Hong said at the awards ceremony that the insignia presented at the end of Ha’s 2-year term in Vietnam acknowledges his efforts for the successful visits of the two countries’ leaders and the “2012 Vietnam-South Korea Friendship Year” marking the 20th anniversary of bilateral diplomatic ties. As an ambassador, Ha encouraged South Korean businesses to invest in Vietnam, boosted negotiations on the Vietnam-South Korea free trade agreement, and persuaded the South Korean government to expand its official development assistance (ODA) to Vietnam. Hong said he hoped Ha will keep his love for Vietnam’s land and people in mind in any position he may hold in the future, and will continue to strengthen the bilateral friendship and cooperation.
