(VOVworld) – Protests against foreign nationals turned violent Tuesday in South Africa's third-largest city, Durban, in KwaZulu-Natal province. 1,000 locals clashed with foreigners using baseball bats and knives. Police fired rubber bullets and teargas to disperse the crowd. President Jacob Zuma sent the Ministers of Home Affairs, Police, and State Security to KwaZulu-Natal province to work with local authorities to quell xenophobic attacks and protect the public.
