Central Election Commission (CEC) head Nurzhan Shayldabekova told reporters in the capital Bishkek that Jeenbekov had secured more than 54 percent of Sunday's presidential vote, with 97 percent of polling stations reporting.
Jeenbekov’s main opponent, oil tycoon Omurbek Babanov, was far behind with just 33 percent. The Kyrgyzstan constitution allows the president to serve only one six-year term.
