According to Vietnamese Ambassador to Singapore Mai Phuoc Dung, the visit aims to deepen the strategic partnership signed by the two countries more than 9 years ago and concretize the results of bilateral cooperation in recent years.

Ambassador Dung said that the visit will also promote trade and investment ties thus making Singapore continue to be Vietnam’s largest investor. By the end of this August, Singapore's total investment in Vietnam was more than 4.5 billion USD, and bilateral trade between totalled 15 billion USD, up 25% from last year.

The ambassador said that during President Halimah Yacob's visit to Vietnam, the two countries will sign an agreement on promoting cooperation in renewable energy, which will create a new impetus for bilateral relations as Vietnam has a lot of potential for renewable energy, while Singapore has high demand for renewable energy.
