“We highly appreciate this visit, which comes shortly after the upgrade of our countries’ relationship to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership in March 2025. It reflects the strong and growing ties between our Parties, Governments, peoples, and militaries,” General Giang said.
He thanked Singapore’s Ministry of Defense for its support in professional and language training through scholarship programs, and for hosting Vietnamese Navy, Coast Guard, and Border Guard officers at the Information Fusion Centre (IFC).
The Minister also acknowledged the high-level Singaporean delegation’s participation in Vietnam’s key defense events, including the 80th anniversary of the Vietnam People’s Army, the 35th All-People’s National Defense Day, and the Vietnam International Defense Expo in 2024.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining consultation and mutual support at ASEAN-led multilateral defense and security forums and other international events hosted by each country.
Minister Chan Chun Sing said that enhanced defense cooperation is in line with the spirit of the Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He reaffirmed Singapore’s readiness to provide more training opportunities for Vietnamese officers.
Both ministers agreed to maintain existing consultation mechanisms, especially in preparation for the upcoming Vietnam-Singapore Defense Policy Dialogue to be held in Vietnam.
