Several wounded in gun attack in Jerusalem

(VOVWORLD) - Israeli police say Sunday that seven were hurt, with two of the victims in serious condition, in a gun attack on a bus near Jerusalem’s Old City. Forces have been dispatched to the scene to investigate.

The shooting followed a tense week between Israel and Palestinians in Gaza and the West Bank.

The Israeli military has stepped up military operations in the occupied West Bank after several attacks that killed 19 people, most of them Israeli civilians. The recent military operations by the Israeli army have also killed more than 50 Palestinian civilians.

The recent three-day fighting in the Gaza strip has left 49 Palestinians dead, many homes destroyed, leaving thousands of Palestinians homeless. Last Sunday Israel announced that it accepted the Egypt-brokered ceasefire agreement with the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (PIJ) in the Gaza Strip.
