(VOVworld) - Seoul has sent a letter of invitation to Pyongyang to attend its October forum, implementing President Park Geun-hye's policy of promoting peace in Northeast Asia.
South Korean news agency Yonhap quoted a government source as saying that Seoul plans to hold a meeting of government and private experts to discuss the environment, energy, and nuclear safety, the main themes of the "Northeast Asia Peace Cooperation Initiative (NAPCI)".
The vision calls for countries in the region to build trust through nonpolitical cooperation before coping with political and security matters.
Seoul's government has invited officials from the US, China, Japan, Russia, and Mongolia. Pyongyang whose attendance is critical to the success of the meeting, has not yet accepted Seoul’s invitation.
