Japan’s ministry of Foreign Affairs said that last Sunday a Chinese army navy ship entered the Senkaku/Diaoyu Islands, which are administered by Japan but claimed by China. The vessel was spotted traveling the waters near the islands from late Sunday afternoon through early Monday afternoon, but it did not enter the contiguous zone or Japanese waters, the Ministry said. The Japanese government has expressed concern about China’s unilateral military escalation.
