A similar seminar was organized in Da Nang city in September, 2014
(VOVworld) – A seminar to gather opinions on the draft Law for the election of National Assembly and People’s Councils’ deputies was held Thursday in Da Nang City. Delegates discussed the responsibilities of agencies in charge of organizing the elections, the qualifications of nominees, proportions of deputies, legitimate elective rights, and rights to nominate or self-nominate to the positions. Some delegates underlined the need to clearly regulate the minimum percentage of female and ethnic minority deputies, and asked for close supervision of the selection of nominees. Associate Professor, Dr. Dinh Xuan Thao is head of the National Assembly Steering Committee’s Judicial Research Institute: "At this seminar, we will discuss, analyze, and propose ideas to complete the draft law. This is a rare chance for us to contribute our opinions to the draft law before the National Assembly’s final review for approval this June."
