The recognition is part of a JICA-funded project to boost green growth by implementing sustainable environmental protection and tourism development policies.
To get a “Blue Sail” logo, a tourist boat must meet 29 environmental protection and social responsibility criteria, which focus on preventing or reducing noise and air pollution, cutting waste and wastewater discharge, and protecting bio-diversity.
Bhaya cruise limited company is among awardees.

Nguyen Ngoc Quang, General Manager of the Hong Phong Cruise Company, said: “We should take responsibility for the world natural heritage Ha Long Bay because we are benefiting from it. Apart from communications, we have begun sorting waste and used environment-friendly products.”
Dang Huy Hau, Deputy Chairman of the provincial People’s Committee, said most of the ships certified this time are overnight boats offering high-end services.
“The “Blue sail” logo means that the ships protect the environment. The logo will help attract customers and encouraged uncertified ships to follow suit,” said Hau.
