The project’s 1st phase will start this year to build the Sapa airport at 4C grade under the standards of the International Civil Aviation Organization – ICAO with a capacity of 1.5 million passengers per year.
The 2nd phase, which will begin in 2028, will finalize other components to raise the airport’s capacity to 3 million passengers per year. Investment construction and exploitation time of the airport will be 50 years in the form of a public-private partnership (PPP).
According to the approved plan, Sa Pa airport will have a capacity of 3 million passengers per year and will be able to receive aircraft equivalent to Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
Sapa, a famous tourist destination of Vietnam, is located in the northwest of the country, 380 km from Hanoi, at an average altitude of 1500m above sea level, and home to various ethnic minority groups.
