Russian President’s aide Yuri Ushakov told reporters on Friday that the goal of the meeting is to begin efforts to improve the negative situation in the Russia-US relations, to take concrete steps to normalize relations, to rebuild a more or less acceptable level of trust, and to try to outline steps that can help resume mutually beneficial cooperation on mutual interests.
Putin and Trump are scheduled to hold a summit in Helsinki on Monday. They set no time limit for the talks and will decide whether to sign a joint communique after the talks.
