Protesters threw stones and eggs at the Russian embassy building in Kiev.
Earlier, hundreds of Ukrainians gathered outside the Russian embassy in Kiev to press for the release of the Ukrainian pilot Nadiya Savchenko from a Russian detention center. The protestors threw eggs at the Russian embassy building, smashing windows and security cameras. The Embassy’s Press Secretary, Oleg Grishin, said the extremists were well-equipped for the attack. Meanwhile, Ukrainian Prime Minister Arseniy Yatsenyuk and Foreign Minister Pavel Klimkin said the country only supported demonstrations held in a peaceful manner.

Pilot Savchenko is now on trial in court in  Donetsk in Russia’s Rostov province after being detained in mid 2014. Nadiya Savchenko could be sentenced up to 25 years in prison.
