Wagner’s leader Yevegeny Prigozhin and its members have left Rostov city after Prigozhin agreed to end the riot against Russia’s military leaders. Dmitry Peskov, the Kremlin spokesman, said that Prigozhin will go to Belarus and the Russian authorities will not prosecute Wagner Group fighters who took part in the rebellion.
Russian state-owned media outlet TASS said all restrictions imposed on highways have been lifted. All heavy military equipment, including tanks and fighters of the Wagner, has completely left Russia’a southern military headquarters in Rostov province.
Many Russians expressed their confidence in Russian President Putin to have a solution to stabilize the situation.
The White House said that US President Joe Biden spoke on the phone with the leaders of France, Germany, and the UK on the situation in Russia.
EU High Commissioner for Foreign Affairs Josep Borrell avoided commenting directly on what he called Russia's internal affairs. He said the EU’s crisis response center has been activated. He has coordinated with the EU’s officials ahead of the European Council on Foreign Affairs’ meeting on June 26.
