There were more than 11,000 Russian servicemen and 131 combat vehicles of armored forces, artillery, special operations forces, campaign missiles, strategic ballistic missiles, and 77 jets and helicopters of the Russian Aerospace Forces.

This year the display of Russian Air Forces’ IL-80 strategic airborne command aircraft nicknamed "doomsday" was cancelled. The special aircraft designed by the Soviet Union is for use in the event of a nuclear war.

No foreign leaders were invited to attend the parade as it was not a jubilee year, but celebrations still took place across the country. Crowds of Russians gathered at the Red Square and on both sides of Tver Street to watch the marching of the soldiers and the display of modern combat technology.
