(VOVworld) – Russian Sukhoi-34 jets deployed on Friday carried out 14 combat missions targeting Islamic State positions in Syria.

Russian Defense Ministry Spokesman Igor Konashenkov said that jets completely destroy IS headquarters in Kasrat Faraj village and a training camp near Maadan Jadid, 70 km from Raqa, which is used to prepare for terrorist acts. The Defense Ministry said that Russia carried out air strikes on Thursday, targeting 12 IS positions in Syria.

The same day, the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights announced that at least 12 IS elements in Syria were killed in the first Russian air strikes.
