During a meeting with NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte in the Oval Office on Monday, President Trump announced an agreement with NATO under which NATO member states will purchase weapons produced by the US and then deliver them to Ukraine.

In addition to Patriot air defense systems, the US could sell short-range missiles, howitzers and medium-range air-to-air missiles to NATO members, who will then transfer the weapons to Ukraine.

President Trump said he’s disappointed that the Russia-Ukraine conflict still continues. "I’m disappointed in President Putin as I thought we would have a deal two months ago but it doesn’t seem to get there. So based on that, we're gonna do a very severe tariff as we don't have a deal in 50 days, and it will be 100%," Mr. Trump said.

Russia’s Special Presidential Representative for Investment and Economic Cooperation with Foreign Countries Kirill Dmitriev said he believes Russia will continue to maintain constructive dialogue with the US. He emphasized that dialogue, mutual respect, realism, and economic cooperation are the pillars of global security and sustainable peace.

The Kremlin on Monday announced that Russia is ready for a third round of negotiations with Ukraine and is awaiting proposals for a deadline. Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov said he hopes President Trump’s special envoy’s visit to Ukraine will strengthen the US’s role as a mediator in the conflict.
