The Russian Foreign Ministry said on the same day that the two leaders also discussed closer cooperation to reinforce the truce in Syria, provide its population with humanitarian aid, and launch a sustainable political settlement process. The two expressed full support for the UN-brokered peace talks between the Syrian government and opposition forces in Geneva, Switzerland, which hopes to recognize the principles of the future Syrian state.
