(VOVworld) - US State Secretary Rex Tillerson had a meeting with Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Wednesday in Moscow as part of a 2-day official visit to Russia. Russia said it hopes for fruitful negotiations with the US, which has importance not only for US-Russia relations, but for the world.

US-Russian relations are experiencing their biggest challenge since the end of the Cold War, according to a Russian Foreign Ministry announcement released prior to the visit. Russia hopes for "productive talks" with Tillerson.  The parties will also discuss the Syria, Israel-Palestine, Yemen, Libya and Afghanistan conflicts, as well as de-escalation of the situation on the Korean Peninsula, according to the Russian Foreign Ministry.
