Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov told reporters on Tuesday that a great deal will have to be done in order to fully restore the ties. On Wednesday, Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Turkish President to discuss the ways to restore their relations.

Russian Foreign Ministry spokeswoman Maria Zakharova said Tuesday that Turkey made a serious step closer to Moscow. Turkish Prime Minister Binali Yildirim announced on Tuesday that the process to normalize relations between Moscow and Ankara has started. He said Turkey would pay compensation for the Russian aircraft if necessary.
