Russia to retaliate if Western arms supplied to Ukraine attack its territory

(VOVWORLD) - “If Washington and NATO provide Kiev with weapons to strike deep into Russia against civilian cities and attempt to seize our constitutionally consolidated territories, then Moscow will be forced to take tough retaliatory actions.”, head of the Russian delegation at the military security and arms control talks in Vienna, said on Wednesday.

Russia warned NATO members involved in the weapon supply to Ukraine that any arms shipments on Ukrainian territory would be “legitimate targets” for Russian forces.

Meanwhile, the US announced supplying Ukraine with 31 M1 Abrams battle tanks, one of its most powerful tanks, in the months ahead through the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative. Supplying Ukraine with M1 Abrams tanks will take months and is meant to strengthen Ukraine’s long-term military capability.

Germany will supply Ukraine with Leopard 2 tanks and train Ukrainian soldiers on using the tanks in Germany, said German Prime Minister Olaf Scholz on Wednesday.
