Russian Deputy Prime Minister Igor Shuvalov presented the report to President Vladimir Putin at a government meeting Wednesday. The economic stimulus package will focus on agriculture, industry, health care, and exports. Shuvalov said the Kremlin agreed on measures to stabilise the economy but is calculating the expenditure from the National Wealth Fund and lost income from new tax benefits.
Russia’s budget deficit in 2015 is expected to increase 0.5% against the previous year but will be lower than the 5.9-per-cent deficit in 2009.
At the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Arkady Dvorkovich rejected Russia’s possibility to go bankrupt and blamed international credit rating agencies for downgrading Russia’s credit rating.
