Russia, Japan help Vietnam cope with flooding

(VOVWORLD) -Russian President Vladimir Putin on Tuesday ordered 5 million USD in aid to help Vietnam recover from typhoon Damrey.

Putin spokesman Dmitry Peskov expressed his hope that the Russian humanitarian initiative will be imitated by other countries. Russia called on the global community, including leaders attending the APEC Economic Leaders’ Meeting, to show solidarity with the Vietnamese people.

The Japanese government, through the Japan International Cooperation Agency, donated more than 100 water filters to help storm victims in central Thua Thien-Hue and Quang Nam province.
