(VOVworld) – Russia has completed the evacuation of all staff and family members from its embassy in Libya to Tunisia after gunmen attacked the compound in the capital, Tripoli. Russian Foreign Ministry spokesman Alexander Lukashevich said Thursday that Moscow decided to evacuate the embassy after Libya's Foreign Minister Mohamed Abdelaziz visited its grounds and told the Russian ambassador that Libya was unable to protect the personnel. The foreign ministry in Moscow has announced that the evacuees have arrived in neighboring Tunisia, where they plan to catch a flight back to Russia. The ministry suggested the incident was a revenge attack after a Russian citizen was accused of killing a Libyan official and injuring his mother earlier this month.
