He noted that some Western media outlets have acknowledged this principle.
According to Lavrov, US-Russia talks on security guarantees for Ukraine have stalled because Moscow insists that the principle of “indivisible security” must be incorporated into any agreement.
He said this principle has been recognized internationally at the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) summits in Istanbul (1999) and Astana (2010).
Lavrov said that NATO, however, has acted in a contrary manner, regarding security as a tool to extend military and political influence.
The Russian Foreign Minister said that when some parties accuse Moscow of obstructing negotiations, it means they openly seek to make security “divisible,” turning guarantees for Ukraine into a tool against Russia.
