Deputies agreed on the need to promulgate the revised Law on Cultural Heritage, which has adjusted many provisions of the current Law and added some new regulations.

The bill institutionalizes Party views and State policies on preserving and developing culture and ensuring people's rights to enjoy cultural values in the new situation, said deputy Dao Chi Nghia of Can Tho city.

“The draft expands the scope of regulations on investment, construction, and renovation of works inside and outside relic protection areas, and the conditions to protect and promote cultural heritage values,” Nghia noted.

To Ai Vang, a NA deputy for Soc Trang province, called for allocating development investment capital to cities that have been honored by UNESCO with the title Global Learning City or Creative Cities Network.

She underscored the need to prioritize to allocating development investment capital to cities that have been honored as members of the UNESCO Global Network of Learning Cities and Creative Cities Network.

“We need to implement the project to build a learning society and the movement to promote lifelong learning and a model of happy schools," said Vang, adding, "We should outline a mechanism and policy to promote creativity in development and spread the spirit of a creative city to motivate other cities nationwide. We should try to meet UNESCO's criteria to continue to be honored, thus building the image of the locality, country, people and culture of Vietnam, and promoting it internationally.”
