(VOVWORLD) - Resolution 68, which was just signed by Party General Secretary To Lam for promulgation, emphasized that the private sector is the most important driving force of Vietnam’s economy. The Resolution is regarded by economists and business leaders as a breakthrough reform initiative for the private economic sector.

Pham Nguyen Khang, Deputy Director of the Minh Trang Steel Company in My Tho city, Tien Giang province, said Resolution 68 marks a bold, forward-thinking shift in mindset and action. It strongly affirms the goal of building a facilitating and service-oriented State that supports the rapid and sustainable growth of the private sector, while avoiding administrative interference in business activities that goes against market principles.

It aims to cultivate an open, friendly, cooperative, transparent, and service-driven relationship between the government and businesses to foster economic development, according to Mr. Khanh. “Resolution 68 of the Politburo on the development of the private sector as a major driver for the nation satisfies the public and enables businesses to operate within legal frameworks. With this resolution in place, we hope to see tangible changes soon, particularly in streamlining public administrative procedures to efficiently support the sustainable growth of the private economic sector.”

Associate Professor Dr. Pham The Anh of the National Economics University, said, “In the long term, investment resources must come from the private sector rather than the public sector, as public financial resources are insufficient to sustain large-scale projects indefinitely. Initially, we implement major public investment projects, but the ultimate goal is to attract private investment and economic resources.  That way we can generate budget revenue, build infrastructure for the economy, and drive long-term sustainable economy.”

Resolution 68 is believed to generate strong momentum for private enterprises to achieve breakthroughs and collaborate with other economic sectors in building a Vietnamese economy that is independent, self-reliant, resilient, and deeply integrated into the global economy, driving the nation toward sustainable, prosperous development.
