(VOVworld) -  Republicans continue to voice their opposition to Obamacare Act after Health and Human Services Secretary Kathleen Sebelius on Wednesday admitted that the number of people registering for the insurance program remained very low due to technical glitches on the government website HealthCare.gov. Republicans also accused the Obama administration of lying to the public about Obamacare. Senator Orrin Hatch said that President Obama had not kept his promises as he had not been able to prevent some insurance corporations from canceling health insurance packages for thousands of people due to the fact that many regulations in their old contracts did not meet the requirements set out in the Affordable Care Act or Obamacare.

At the hearing of the Senate Finance Committee, Ms. Sebelius admitted that it was impossible for US government to have 1 million people registering for the Obamacare program before the end of the year. However, she reiterated that the program would bring about many practical benefits for US citizens as it would not allow insurance companies to refuse payments for their contracts, or offering high rate insurances for women. Some Democrats expressed their concerns over the disrupted start to the Program and worried that the website HealthCare.gov could seriously damage the government’s program.
Meanwhile President Obama has pledged to do his utmost to solve the current difficulties to facilitate people in accessing the new insurance policies which will come into force on January 1st, 2014.
