(VOVworld) – Around 1 million refugees are likely to reach Europe in 2016, which is the same as the previous year.

The International Organization for Migration (IOM) said on Monday that conflicts and military operations would make more people flee their homes.  IOM spokesman Joel Millman said in 2015, the number of migrants and refugees to Europe via the Mediterranean Sea was 1 million people, which is a four-fold increase from 2014’s figure. According to the IOM, the situation can be changed unless the living conditions in the war-affected countries such as Syria are improved.
