Of 24 bills outlined in the Queen's speech, 8 dealt with the technicalities of ending Britain's membership in the EU. The Queen said the 8 Brexit-related bills involve converting EU rules into UK laws. The other 16 measures concern trade, customs, immigration, fisheries, agriculture, and nuclear sanctions. The Queen reaffirmed the government's commitment to tackling the threat of terrorism and continuing to invest at least 2 percent of GDP in defense. The Queen said a special commission should be established to counter extremism in all its forms, across society and on the internet. Education, jobs, and reform of social care for the elderly were also mentioned in her speech.
