(VOVworld)- High-ranking officials from Vietnamese province of Quang Tri and Lao’s Savannakhet province on Sunday held talks on their cooperation in the 2014-2016 period. They reviewed the implementation of cooperative agreements signed over the past three years and discussed orientations for bilateral cooperation in the future. They agreed to facilitate relevant departments, sectors and agencies as well as businesses to strengthen mutual support, and study potential, and socio-economic plans in their border districts. They agreed on the need to work together in implementing the Joint Statement and Savannakhet Statement issued at the 2nd Deputy Foreign Ministerial Meeting on the East West Economic Corridor last May. They promised to increase the exchanges of information and experiences and strengthen coordination between their military, police, border soldier and foreign affairs agencies. The two sides will continue working closely in searching for and repatriating remains of Vietnamese soldiers and experts missing in Laos. After the talks, leaders of the two provinces signed a cooperative agreement for the 2014-2016 period.
