More than 15,000 lanterns were lighted up in honor of the people who sacrificed their lives for the country’s independence and liberation. Quang Tri citadel and Thach Han river were the site of 81 fierce days and nights of fighting in the summer of 1972 against the US troops to liberate the town. Quang Tri is now home to 72 war martyrs’ cemeteries, totaling nearly 70,000 graves.
