Quang Tri fisherman revel in bumper anchovy harvest in the first days of new lunar year

This year’s anchovy and mackerel season has arrived early near Con Co fishing zone in Quang Tri province. Fisherman Le Van Vien said, anchovies have brought great income for him in the early days of the new lunar year. Vien said:

"The weather is favorable and anchovies proliferate strongly, so we have caught a lot of them, 3 to 4 tons per night averagely. We are very happy to have bumper catch in the beginning of the year.”

Due to good weather, Quang Tri’s fishing grounds are filled with fish. Tran Van Quang, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Gio Linh district said the abundance of anchovy increases fishermen’s income and creates more jobs for local fish processing enterprises. He said:

“Since Tet holiday, Gio Linh district has caught 1,130 tons of seafood, much higher than last year. Each vessel can earn 200 million VND (9,000 USD).”
