(VOVworld) – Public support for German Chancellor Angela Merkel has soared and broken its record since last September when Berlin announced to welcome refugees.

According to the poll published late Thursday, the chancellor’s approval rating rose nine percentage points to 59%, the highest over the past 10 months. Her government's performance received an increased support of 6%.

 Merkel is the third-most popular German politician after Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier who enjoys 74% support and Finance Minister Wolfgang Schaeuble at 64%.
