(VOVworld) – The Ho Chi Minh Youth Union, the Ministry of Education and Training, and the National Committee on Traffic Safety have agreed on a program to promote traffic safety awareness among youth union members, students, and pupils in the next 5 years. The program will increase awareness of traffic safety laws and the role and responsibility of Youth Unions at all levels in helping reduce accidents and congestions. Nguyen Dac Vinh, First Secretary of the Ho Chi Minh Youth Union, says 'Youth Union members want to join efforts to improve traffic safety, a pressing issue. In Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City, we are cooperating with the Ministry of Transport, and the National Committee on Traffic Safety to provide training courses for students to help clear city traffic jams. The Youth Union of each province and city has organized groups of students to keep their campus or the area in front of their school clean and beautiful'.

2012 is being observed as the Year of Traffic Safety.
