Mr. Dung said he believes Myanmar will continue working with ASEAN, the UN, and other parties to seek long-term solutions to conflicts and speed up the repatriation of refugees. He said Vietnam is ready to support dialogues that contribute to peace and stability in the region, and announced that the Vietnamese government will give Myanmar 100,000 USD for humanitarian aid, reconstruction, and development in Rakhine.
Myanmar State Counselor Aung San Suu Kyi and Myanmar officials pledged to support Vietnam as ASEAN Chair in 2020 and affirmed their determination to promote the comprehensive partnership between Vietnam and Myanmar. They said Myanmar will work closely with Vietnam in hosting the ninth meeting of the Joint Committee for Bilateral Cooperation.
During his visit, Mr. Dung met with Commander-in-Chief of Myanmar’s Armed Forces Min Aung Hlaing, Minister of International Cooperation Kyaw Tin, and Minister of Social Welfare, Relief and Resettlement Win Myat Aye.
