Prime Minister urges to strengthen economic diplomacy

(VOVWORLD) - The Ministry of Foreign Affairs held a plenary session on economic diplomacy in service of national development as part of the ongoing 32nd Diplomatic Conference on Thursday.

In his address, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh praised diplomats and external relations forces’ efforts and achievements in creating a peaceful, stable, and cooperative environment for national development. The Prime Minister noted continued challenges around the world, asking the diplomatic sector to further promote economic diplomacy.

He said: “We need to continue to realize the directions of the Party and State, effectively implement Directive 18 of the Party Secretariat and Resolution 21 of the government on economic diplomacy on the basis of reforming mindset, strategic vision, methodology and approaches to promote the central role of economics. We need to closely follow global trends and swiftly tackle obstacles to overcome challenges, fine-tune mechanisms, boost cooperation, concretize economic commitments, and review the implementation of signed treaties.
"It’s important to diversify the markets, products and supply chains and exploit potentials of markets in the Middle East, Africa, and South America, and the Halal market. We need to promote self-reliance and creativity, and strengthen coordination and links with sectors and localities with the spirit of centering on businesses and localities in all services.”

The plenary session discussed measures to promote economic diplomacy and create momentum for rapid, sustainable national development.
