(VOVworld) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc paid courtesy visits to former Lao Party General Secretary and President Choummaly Sayasone and former Prime Minister Thongsing Thammavong in Vientiane on Thursday.

At the meetings, Mr. Phuc congratulated Laos on its successful organization of the 28th and 29th ASEAN Summits and related meetings in fulfillment of its role as ASEAN Chair for 2016. Meanwhile, the Vietnamese leader and former Lao PM Thongsing Thammavong recalled strong and effective developments in the two countries’ comprehensive cooperation, including the successful implementation of the 2011-2015 cooperation agreement and the achievement of various important goals in the 2011-2020 strategy on economic, cultural, scientific and technological cooperation.

Prime Minister Phuc expressed his hope that Thongsing Thammavong and other former leaders of Laos would do more for the Vietnam-Laos special relationship and all-round cooperation.
