Prime Minister Phuc informed participants of Vietnam's views on free trade and investment, e-commerce and the digital economy, inclusive growth and implementation of the UN millennium goals, and proposed measures to boost cooperation within APEC and raise the international status of the forum. The Prime Minister mentioned that the Vietnamese National Assembly’s ratification of the Comprehensive and Progressive Agreement for Trans-Pacific Partnership (CPTPP) demonstrates Vietnam's determination to continue comprehensive reform, international integration, and support for free and open trade and investment.

“The ratification of the CPTPP is a major step toward trade and investment liberalization and the long-term future of the Asia-Pacific region,” said Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bui Thanh Son.

The leaders of the 21 APEC members failed to issue a joint statement, but hailed the achievement of regional connectivity and sustainable, inclusive growth, and agreed to hold their next meeting in Chile next year.
