(VOVWORLD) -The Vietnam-Laos relationship is a special relationship that is constantly being cultivated and developed, Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh said on Wednesday.

Mr. Chinh received Khamphan Phommaphat, Politburo member, Chairman of the Inspection Commission of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party, Head of the Central Committee for Anti-corruption, and Inspector General of Laos.

The Prime Minister said that in the first three months of 2022, trade turnover between Vietnam and Laos reached over 400 million USD, an increase of nearly 20% over the same period last year. The two sides are actively coordinating to effectively implement the agreements of the two countries' senior leaders and the results of the 44th meeting of the Vietnam-Laos Intergovernmental Committee, which strongly promotes projects to develop transport infrastructure connectivity between the two countries and in the region.

He affirmed that Vietnam values cooperation with Laos in national development and always does its best to boost their close relationship and effective cooperation in all fields.

The Prime Minister said he believes that the Lao Party, State, Government and People will continue to successfully implement the resolutions of the 11th National Party Congress and the 9th Five-Year Socio-Economic Development Plan 2021-2025.

For his part, Mr. Khamphan Phommaphat expressed his wish to continue to receive the sharing and help and pledged to try his best to contribute to improving the quality and efficiency of cooperation between the two countries’ inspection sector and to preserving and cultivating the special friendship between Vietnam and Laos.
