Chairing a working session with the Ministry of National Defense on the development of the defense industry in Hanoi on Thursday, the PM urged the armed forces to closely follow the developments of the defense industry and provide strategic advice to the Party and the State on military, defense and defense industry issues, while responding flexibly and effectively to emerging situations.
He stressed the need to promote science and technology, as well as innovation and digital transformation, to achieve breakthroughs and master key technologies in the design, production, repair, upgrading and modernization of weapons. He said major programs, projects and initiatives in the defense industry, especially those involving high-tech products, should be implemented effectively.

The Prime Minister also called for greater efforts in training and the improvement of the quality of human resources, as well as fostering the integration of defense development with socio-economic development. He emphasized the importance of developing dual-use products that serve defense needs and socio-economic development and improve people’s livelihoods.
Leaders of the Ministry of National Defense, the General Department of Defense Industry of Vietnam and Viettel Group said that in recent years Vietnam’s defense industry has grown steadily, contributing significantly to the country’s overall development. The sector has seen increasing innovation and technological breakthroughs, demonstrating stronger capabilities in research, design, production and modernization of weapons and equipment under Vietnamese brands.
