Prime Minister arrives in Thailand for 35th ASEAN Summit

(VOVWORLD) - Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, his spouse and a high-ranking delegation arrived at the Bangkok military airport on Friday night to attend the 35th ASEAN Summit and related meetings, scheduled for November 2-4 in Bangkok.

The delegation was welcomed by Thai Minister of Culture Ittiphol Kunplome and Thai diplomats.

Mr. Phuc attends the plenary session of the 35th ASEAN Summit on Saturday, during which the regional leaders will discuss orientations and measures to build a sustainable ASEAN Community for its people. He will also have bilateral meetings with foreign leaders and attend business and investment events between Viet Nam and Thailand.

The next days, PM Phuc will attend summits with ASEAN partners, namely ASEAN-China Summit, ASEAN-India Summit, ASEAN-United Nations Summit, ASEAN Plus 3 Summit, ASEAN-US Summit, ASEAN-Japan Summit, East Asia Summit among others.

Following the closing ceremony of the 35th ASEAN Summit and related Summits on Monday, Thailand will hand over ASEAN Chairmanship to Viet Nam. At the hand-over ceremony, PM Nguyen Xuan Phuc will deliver remarks on the theme and major orientations during Viet Nam’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2020. The logo of the ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 and a short video introducing Viet Nam’s ASEAN Chairmanship 2020 of will also be screened.
