At a meeting with California Governor Gavin Newsom, President Thuong expressed his belief that with direct flights, a large Vietnamese community, and many investors from both countries, California will be a pioneer in the development of bilateral ties.
The Vietnamese President asked the Governor to support the establishment of more pairs of sister cities, with the first between Hanoi and Los Angeles.
Governor Gavin Newsom affirmed that California is ready to further strengthen friendly relations through effective and practical cooperation with Vietnam, while encouraging large corporations and businesses in the state to continue investing in Vietnam.

At a meeting with Deputy Mayor of Los Angeles Erin Bromaghim, President Thuong praised the development of Los Angeles, a technology center and famous seaport.
The Vietnamese leader said that many Vietnamese localities have the potential to develop seaport economies thanks to the country's long coastline and that Vietnamese businesses and localities are willing to cooperate with Los Angeles in this field.
Los Angeles Deputy Mayor Erin Bromaghim said that in the near future, a US business delegation will visit Vietnam to explore opportunities for investment cooperation.
