President Vo Van Thuong inspects search and rescue readiness

(VOVWORLD) - On Saturday, President Vo Van Thuong inspected the search and rescue readiness at the Search and Rescue Department of the General Staff of the Vietnam People's Army, the National Steering Committee for Civil Defense, and the National Committee for Incident and Disaster Response and Search and Rescue.

Speaking at the meeting, President Vo Van Thuong praised the officers and soldiers’ contributions to civil defense and response to incidents and natural disaster, and search and rescue.

Regarding the future tasks of the agencies, the President said: "It is necessary to promote communication and improve skills of the relevant forces and the public to raise their awareness about the importance of civil defense which is part of national defense and an important and regular task of the Party, people, army and the whole political system. This should be linked with socio-economic development strategies."
